Cookie Policy
Last Updated: April 2026
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Terra Connect Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on terraconnect.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
This policy complies with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your browser or device when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and consent choices. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by third-party services operating on that website (“third-party cookies”).
3. How We Use Cookies
We categorise cookies into two groups:
a) Strictly Necessary (Essential) Cookies
These cookies are required for our website to function. They are exempt from consent under PECR Regulation 6(4) because they are strictly necessary for a service you have requested. They cannot be switched off.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| tc_cookie_consent | Terra Connect (first-party) | Records whether you have accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so the consent banner is not shown again | HTTP cookie | 1 year |
b) Analytics Cookies (Non-Essential — Consent Required)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting aggregated, anonymised data. They are blocked by default and only activated after you click “Accept” on our cookie consent banner. If you decline, these cookies are never set and any previously stored analytics data is deleted from your browser.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (third-party) | Assigns a randomly generated unique identifier to distinguish individual visitors. IP addresses are anonymised (anonymize_ip: true). Ad-personalisation signals are disabled. |
HTTP cookie | 2 years |
| _ga_G-2REQR762M8 | Google Analytics (third-party) | Maintains session state so we can understand which pages were viewed in a single visit | HTTP cookie | 2 years |
We do not use any marketing cookies, social-media tracking cookies, or advertising cookies on this website.
4. How We Obtain Your Consent
In compliance with PECR Regulation 6 and UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a), we operate the following consent mechanism:
- Default state: When you first visit our website, all non-essential (analytics) cookies are blocked. The Google Analytics script is not loaded until you consent.
- Cookie banner: A clearly visible banner is displayed, explaining our use of cookies and providing two equal options: “Accept” and “Decline”.
- Accept: If you click Accept, analytics cookies are activated and the Google Analytics script is loaded. Your consent choice is stored in the
tc_cookie_consentcookie for 1 year. - Decline: If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are set, any existing analytics cookies and related local/session storage entries are actively deleted, and the Google Analytics tracking ID is disabled. Your decline choice is stored in the
tc_cookie_consentcookie. - No action: If you do not interact with the banner, no non-essential cookies are set. The banner remains visible on subsequent page loads.
This approach ensures consent is freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous, as required by UK GDPR Recital 32.
5. Withdrawing Your Consent
Under UK GDPR, withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it. You can change your cookie preferences at any time using any of these methods:
- Clear your cookies: Delete the
tc_cookie_consentcookie from your browser (see Section 6 below). When you next visit our site, the consent banner will reappear and analytics will be blocked until you make a new choice. - Use your browser settings: Block third-party cookies or all cookies in your browser preferences.
- Contact us: Email privacy@terraconnect.co.uk and we will guide you through the process.
When consent is withdrawn, we immediately stop collecting analytics data from your browser. Previously collected anonymised, aggregated data cannot be linked back to you and is retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies. Here are instructions for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data
Blocking all cookies (including essential ones) may affect the functionality of our website. We recommend only blocking non-essential cookies if you wish to limit tracking.
7. Google Analytics — Data Protection Safeguards
Where you consent to analytics cookies, we apply the following safeguards:
- IP Anonymisation: Your IP address is truncated before any data is stored or processed by Google (
anonymize_ip: true) - No Ad Personalisation: We have disabled Google Signals and ad-personalisation so your data is never used for advertising profiles (
allow_google_signals: false,allow_ad_personalization_signals: false) - Data Retention: Analytics data retention in our Google Analytics property is set to 14 months
- Data Processing Agreement: We operate under Google’s Data Processing Amendment, which includes Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum for transfers to Google servers outside the UK
- No Data Sharing: We do not share analytics data with any other party. We use it solely to understand website usage patterns in aggregate
8. Local Storage & Session Storage
In addition to cookies, web browsers provide “local storage” and “session storage” mechanisms. We use local storage only to store a backup of your cookie consent preference (key: tc_cookie_consent). If you decline analytics cookies, we actively clear all non-essential local storage and session storage entries.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. If we introduce new categories of cookies or change how we use existing cookies, we will re-prompt for consent where required.
